This latest game from Lucas Arts continues
the Star Wars journey, some where between the era’s of Star
Wars 111, Revenge of the Sith, and Star Wars IV, A New
Hope.
In this action feature you get to play on
the other side, in the guise of Darth Vaders secret apprentice
– Villian or Anti Hero? Your role: To assist your evil master,
Darth Vader, remove the Jedi influence from the universe, and
allow Darth Vader to rule
supreme.
While the game has come into criticism for
not being the hard core gamers action, it is easy to play
allowing all of us lesser mortals to play and
enjoy. The
controls are much easier to use, requiring only the Wii
control and Nunchuck and instead of having to memorise
hundreds of button combinations or commands, simply
relies on your ability to use your
wrists.
Just a word of warning, when it comes to the
devastation by Light Sabre, you may want to ensure that you
have some room to move. The action can be fast paced,
and you may find yourself on your feet leaping and lunging your
way through the pack.
With the game play, you really can get swept
away with the action. The game gives an enjoyable
experience making you a real part of the on screen
action. The Wii
Mote acts as your light saber, allowing you to slash your way
through your opponents and still seek
more.
Turn on the Dual mode, and you are ready to
pit your light saber skills against your friends (or are they
really the enemy?). Once you have your skills
down, you sould have a line of friends just waiting for their
chance to challenge you. The dual mode is only
available on the Wii platform and not on other
consoles. The
Force Unleashed’s combat mode is worth getting the game for
alone, apart from the cool graphics, sound effects and general
game ness of the total package.
As with past games, the visuals are
fantastic. Each
world you visit is well detailed as one would expect from the
Lucas crew. Each
villain is extremely well done leading to a great graphic
experience.
Similar to previous Star Wars games, there is always a little
frustration at some points with loose camera angles and the few
occasions where you will find your self in a corner fighting
some what blind and some repetitiveness is to be
found. However the
game as a whole is worth while the time to
play.
If you are familiar with Mortal Kombat, then
Star Wars, The Force Unleashed, has better graphics, light
sabers and force powers – and don’t forget – You are on the
Dark Side in this latest Lucas
release.
